Welcome to Clan MacFarlane Worldwide!
If you're like the rest of us you have no doubt found yourself pondering your heritage. Maybe your interest was nurtured as a child or maybe it was just discovered. Either way, we're glad your interest has led you here and we invite you to become part of our worldwide, yet tight, community. Our goals are to educate, share, and take pride in our heritage.
We are MacFarlanes of all spelling variations, McGaws, Spruells, Robbs, Millers, Websters, Weavers, Blacks and many others. Together we form a organization that's kept by the strongest of bonds... family. We answer to the call Loch Sloy, we carry the arms of our forefathers, we preserve the heritage that is so uniquely yours and ours.
It is with your support that the heritage of Clan MacFarlane will continue to thrive for another 800 years. Please join today.
2019 CMW Annual Member's Meeting
Yolo County Fairgrounds
April 27 & 28
Where: Woodland, California for the Woodland Celtic Games http://woodlandcelticgames.org/
For info about Woodland see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodland,_California. Also see: https://www.pinterest.com/cowparksnrec/historic-woodland/. Since the late 1960s, there has been a greater interest in preserving the town's historic buildings, and an impressive number of them have been restored for use as homes, offices, stores and museums. It is well worth a few minutes to drive a few key streets off historic main street to see these beautifully maintained homes. I can put together a map/addresses for those interested. For info about Sacramento see https://www.visitsacramento.com/things-to-do/. (there is Old Town, a refurbished gold rush-era district, a train museum, auto museum, active arts scene, wonderful restaurants, etc.)
When: April 27-28, 2019This is a medium-sized two day game.
If there are travelers that would want to come in early we could arrange a visit to the McFarland Living History Ranch in Galt, CA, http://mcfarlandranch.org/ which would be about a 45 minute drive away.
Transportation: Sacramento International Airport(It is a 16-minute drive from the Sacramento International Airport to Woodland.) Some of the hotels, listed below, have free airport shuttles.
Once you get to town, we can organize carpools, etc. No one will be left out of anything as long as you communicate your location and needs. ****
Lodging Suggestions:Please make your reservations ASAP to ensure you get a room… this is a small town and hotels fill up quickly. It would be better to make a reservation and then cancel it if necessary, then wait and not get in.
Holiday Inn Express 2070 Freeway Drive, Woodland, CA
Hampton Inn and Suites 2060 Freeway Drive, Woodland, CA
Fairfield Inn and Suites (Marriott) 2730 El Centro Road, Sacramento, CA
Best Western Shadow Inn 584 N East Street, Woodland (This is the host hotel for this Caledonian Club event… not for CMW… we are not designating a host hotel.)
There is limited RV parking at the Yolo County Fairgrounds. My instructions have been to watch the website in early January for directions for making reservations.
Weather:The average low temperatures in April are 40s to 50s, and the average high temperatures are 70s-80s… usually pleasant spring weather.
Annual Membership Meeting: will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at the clan tent at the Game.
Saturday night dinner : as a group at the official Ceilidh on the grounds of the Games. It is about $22/person and tickets can be purchased when you purchase your entry tickets to the games online, or the day of the event. Staying onsite will allow us to stay together in a relaxed setting. If we choose, we can take a short walk to bring our food back to our spacious tent site, enjoy the music and fellowship, etc. Bring a light jacket as evenings can be cool. See http://woodlandcelticgames.org/other-events/ceilidh/.

October 15th and 16th, 2011, marked the first of many Annual Meetings for Clan MacFarlane Worldwide. The weather at Stone Mountain, Georgia, could not have been better, and the setting was magical, with clan tents tucked under the trees. Director Jim MacFarlane and his lovely wife Jo hosted this year's tent, and a full report will follow in the next Loch Sloy. Our AMM went off perfectly, reports were given, ballots were opened, snacks and drinks were shared, and fellowship enjoyed by all. We had a great turn-out and signed up many new clan members. We wish everyone could come to every AMM, but hopefully as time goes on, one will occur near your home town. Here are a few of our proud members at the tent.
