The township of Puslinch is about 60,000 acres, or 93 square miles, adjacent to Guelph Township. Inside that space a minimum of four different McFarlane families moved here in the 1830s and 40s, when the territory was opened for settlement.
The founding fathers of these four Scottish families consisted of John McFarlane (1789-1848), Duncan McFarlane (1798-1855), another John McFarlane (1803-1894), and David McFarlane (1796-1878). We have CMW members that descend from these early founders in Puslinch.
