CMW Genealogy Website: MacFarlane and Sept Family Lines
What follows below are the family lines of CMW members who have chosen to share their genealogy and wish to make contact with other members of their line.
Each line starts with a 'Family ID' abbreviation that identifies a lineages earliest known ancestor (EKA), his or her dates and locations. This ID* is saved in each EKA's Suffix field and can be used to locate them in the Clan MacFarlane Worldwide Genealogy database (GDB). The lineages can also be found on Scottish Clans genealogy website. However, the latter site may not be searchable by Family ID. Each Family ID includes a list CMW members’ names from this line with their CMW ID. The Earliest Known Ancestor name may be hyperlinked to their entry in the CMW GDB; if so just hover your mouse over the name and click. (*Note: Individual IDs associated with a GDB entry will change over time. But the Family ID will not. If you notice a link that fails to bring up EKA, please notify the genealogy team.
The method for determining the abbreviation is the first letter, or letters, of their first name, followed by M standing for any of the MacFarlane variations, then a number. The list is arranged alphabetically under either MacFarlanes or Septs. Included in the MacFarlane list is Farlin.
The Sept names will follow the same formula. Also included in the Sept list are names associated to MacFarlane by DNA, such as Lennox, Black, Irvine, and McAlister.
