Muniment - Hill 52 1721
Muniment Hill 52 was created in Edinburgh on February 8th, 1721. It has been transcribed/translated and is now available for CMW members to read on the website under Muniments.
This includes “Inhibitions” and “Adjudications” against Alexander MacFarlane and his father Andrew at the instance and in favour of James Graham the 4th Marquess of Montrose and 1st Duke of Montrose. It appears that the Duke of Montrose is still working by legal means toward the foreclosure and seizure of MacFarlane lands. Alexander MacFarlane was the 7th Baron of Gartartan and Andrew MacFarlane was the 6th Baron of Gartartan. Also included are accusations by the Duke of Montrose to the effect that Alexander and Andrew are still trying to postpone their obligations.
