Muniment - Hill 53 1723
Muniment Hill 53 was created by Mungo Graham of Gorthie on March 12th, 1723. It has been transcribed/translated and is now available for CMW members to read on the website under Muniments.
This is regarding “Memoranda” “Memorials” and “Letters” relative to a Minute of Sale in 1720 (Hill 50) and consequent “Inhibitions”, “Horning”, and “Adjudication” at the instance of James Graham the 1st Duke of Montrose and 4th Marquess of Montrose against Alexander MacFarlane and his father Andrew. Alexander MacFarlane was the 7th Baron of Gartartan and Andrew MacFarlane was the 6th Baron of Gartartan. These are complicated by the divorce of Anna Graham the second daughter of John Graham of Killearn (Hill 57) who divorced Alexander MacFarlane in 1720. Apparently, Alexander MacFarlane committed adultery with Elizabeth Wilkieson the spouse of James Graham of Gartur leading to this divorce.
Be sure to login at the website first, then select "Clan MacFarlane" from the menu and then select "Muniments". The actual .pdf file will be available for you to open at the bottom of the page. Cheers!
