Muniment - Hill 60 1736
Muniment Hill 60 was created on August 27, 1736, by Alexander Robertson in Edinburgh. It has been transcribed/translated and is now available for CMW members to read on the website under Muniments.
This is from Mungo Graham of Gorthie to James Graham the 1st Duke of Montrose and 4th Marquess of Montrose of an obligation by John MacFarlane and his father Andrew to deliver certain writs (deeds) and sasines (title documents) regarding the 10 pound land of Nether Arrochar. John is the 8th Baron of Gartartan, owner of Barony of Auchentroig and 1st of Ballagan while his elder brother Alexander MacFarlane was the 7th Baron of Gartartan and Andrew MacFarlane their father was the 6th Baron of Gartartan. John now has been left to deal with the situation regarding the Duke of Montrose and completion of the sale of lands with litigation and disbursements for the purchase and price. This land sale initially commenced in 1720 but in 1736 all legal matters and papers are still not completed to the satisfaction of the Duke.
