Hill Muniment 61

Muniment Hill 61 was created on August 27, 1736, and written by William Wilson in Edinburgh.  The second part was written July 29, 1745, by Mungo Graham.  It has been transcribed/translated and is now available for CMW members to read on the website under Muniments.

The first part written in 1736 is a bond (IOU) for £9,085 from Walter McFarlane the 19th Baron of Arrochar, 2nd Baron of Ardess and 16th Chief of Clan MacFarlane to James Graham the 1st Duke of Montrose and 4th Marquess of Montrose.

The second part written in 1745 is a discharge endorsed by Mungo Graham of Gorthie indicating completed payment of the bond in the name of the late James Duke of Montrose and his son William the 2nd Duke of Montrose and Marquess of Graham who succeeded his father as Duke on January 7th, 1742.
